Revenue sharing in federal systems

Abstract

Governments in federal countries have the same general responsibilities in relation to fiscal policy as governments in countries with unitary systems: the maintenance of stability in prices, incomes, employment and the balance of payments and the encouragement of balanced economic growth; the promotion of an equitable distribution of personal incomes and wealth; and the provision of public goods and services and other actions to improve living standard and achieve an efficient allocation of resources.
