Abstract

This chapter uses the primary, secondary and tertiary health effect framework to explore some of the current and future impacts of climate change on the almost two billion people who currently live in South Asia (chiefy, India, Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh). The effects of anthropogenic climate change on health and other aspects of human well-being in this region are likely to be profound; many of its people are already vulnerable, physically and socially. Such effects in this nuclear-armed region may have severe global repercussions.
