Abstract

Pyrolysis of Ru3(μ-H)(μ-NC5H4)(CO)10 in chlorobenzene results in the formation of [Ru2(μ-H)(μ- NC5H4)2(CO)4(NC5H5)2][Ru10(μ-H)(μ6-C)(CO)24] in high yield; an X-ray structural study suggests that the hydrido ligand in the anion, previously believed to occupy an interstitial tetrahedral site, possibly bridges a metal–metal bond external to the cluster core.
