Abstract

Description

Built on terrace made by levelling and artificially extending a projecting slope of Kuh-i-Rahmat (Mountain of Mercy), with plain stretching in front of it, where the ordinary city was. Took 60 years to complete. In left-hand corner at back are the monumental white steps, so shallow a horse can mount them, leading to the Gate of Xerxes.
