Abstract
Description
This carving is one of the most remarkable of those which decorated the 895 pillars of this mandapa. Sarasvati is shown playing the vina which she is believed to have invented. The many details in the treatment of the jewellery and clothing and the rather mannered modelling of the flesh, make this pillar one of the masterpieces of Nayaka style.
