Abstract
Description
This bronze vessel is very difficult to date correctly as its shape is of an extraordinary kind. The lid handle ends in the shape of a qilin, a mythical animal of an auspicious nature. It is probably an incense vessel and bears some resemblance to bronzes of the Warring States period from the Huixian region in Henan. It has a dirty green patina with slight lime incrustrations.
