Description
This pot with lid, found in Anyang, is made from kaolin, a fine white clay. It closely resembles the Yu sacral bronze vessel, used for the storage of sacrificial wine, both in its shape and in the rich, carved decoration. It is possible that white ceramic ware was not accessible to the common man, but was made especially as a substitute for the bronze sacral vessels.
