Abstract

On verso: 'Picture of Victorian branch of Spanish Relief Committee, with its secretary, Miss Helen Baillie in light dress in the centre, and its president, Nettie Palmer, standing next to her. Grannie Marshall, the tall woman standing on the left, was active in many causes. She was founder and president of the Women's Committee for Unemployed Women during the depression. She was a J.P., a Labour Party activist, vice-president of the Victorian Council against War and Facism, and honorary secretary of the Society for Cultural Relations with the USSR. She and her husband, Ric, later launched the East -West Committee and the Indonesian Medical Aid Committee.'
