dc.descriptionThis huge temple represents the ultimate development of the middle period of Orissan style. Occupies the centre of a rectangular [sic] enclosed by high walls - 500' by 410'. Temple consists of very high sikhara, projecting vertical bands, and a succession of miniature sikharas also arranged vertically
dc.descriptionand is crowned by a massive amalaka, supported by 8 fantastic beasts. In front of the sikhara can be seen the pyramidal roof of the jagamohan. This multiple stage corbelled roof has a triple amalaka, & horizontal projections which also support beasts. Interior of jagamohan is not decorated, and four pillars support the heavy roof. The outer walls are carved. Many small temples have been erected around the main sanctuary in later periods - all inferior replicas of Sri Mandir.
