Abstract
View of a gravel road leading to a complex of buildings. The rectangular brick building on the left is surmounted by a dome and has a Classical style pillared porch with entablature. The other structure was the Government Astronomer's residence and features a tower as well as a three storeyed wing with round roofs and veranda. The planting along the driveway appears recent. The Observatory was designed in 1896 by George Temple Poole and is located at the top of Mount Eliza east of the City of Perth. Only the residence still survives and it is now the headquarters of National Trust of Australia WA.
