This glass plate negative was enclosed in an envelope numbered 89. No further information was supplied on the envelope. The donor of the collection (son of the photographer) informed the archives that his father had told him that the soldiers in the photographs were from New Zealand, sent to prevent the Germans from taking over the island during World War I.
