Photographer's note: This beautiful scarlet-flowered vine of the lowland rainforests was named in honour of the eccentric Italian explorer Luigi Maria d'Albertis who made three expeditions up the Fly River (1875, 1876 & 1877). This photograph was taken on the floodplain forest south of south branch of Burnett (Dio/ Djalo) River.
