Abstract

Description

Toward the end of the eighteenth century, the generation of artists trained in the ateliers of Bengal and Oudh began to die off, together with the remnants of Mughal prestige and influence. In 1803, the emperor was taken under British protection, and British influence gradually permeated Rajasthan and the Hill States.
