| dc.description | Aqa Riza enjoyed rendering the folds in sash and turban which can be seen in this figure, which shows the beginning of a curious fashion which was to become a tiresome mannerism in the next century, of leaning forward and slightly bending the knee, so as to make a full curve in the line of the thigh and a corresponding double curve in the line of the back. This with the fuller contour of the cheek, and the chin, indicates a change in the modish figure from the type favoured under the Tahmasp. The shoulders are more sloping, the body fuller and the waist less marked. Partly due to the continued growth of naturalism, for these figures seem less still and posed, and about to move forward | |
