The need to incorporate multiple causes of death (MCoD) in mortality statistics is now recognised internationally, but there is scant methodological work to guide analytical approaches. This review aims to identify and appraise current methods and practices used to analyse MCoD data. Methods The Web of Science, Medline, Pubmed and Scopus (from inception to December 2019) were queried. Studies reporting MCoD alone or in comparison with single UCoD were included. The review is supplemented by qualitative interview with international experts. Results 3491 studies were identified; 141 full texts were included in the review. The measures usually estimated when analysing MCoD can be broadly categorised into descriptive measures (n = 93 studies), measures of associations between diseases (n = 46 studies) and advanced statistical methods (n = 11 studies). Descriptive statistics commonly used include standardized ratio of multiple to underlying cause (SRMU) and mortality rates based on any mention of a disease. Approaches used to assess measures of associations between diseases include the Cause-of-Death Association Indicator (CDAI) and social network analysis. The advanced statistical methods include weighting MCoD and lethal defect-wear model of mortality. Audit results will be discussed. Conclusions This review provides a comprehensive and updated summary of methodological approaches used to analyse MCoD data. The merit of each analytical framework is discussed.Item Open Access 17β-Hydroxy-3-oxoandrost-4-en-19-oic acid as a source of nandrolone in acid solvolysed stallion urine extracts(R&W Communications, 2007) McKinney, Andrew; Pu, Fan; McLeod, Malcolm; Suann, Craig J; Stenhouse, Allen MAt the 15th ICRAV in Dubai, evidence was presented that certain 19-norsteroids typically observed in acid solvolysed stallion urine extracts may actually be chemical artefacts formed through the decarboxylation of endogenous steroid-19-oic acids. In the case of the nandroloone frequently detected in such samples, this explanation provides an alternative to the traditional assumption that nandrolone sulphate and/or nandrolone sulphate and /or nandrolone glucurornide are normal components of stallion urine. Its extension to the 3D theory however requires many secondary sources and a high computational complexity. In this paper, a weighted mode matching approach is developed for 2.5D multizone reproduction. The multizone soundfield is reproduced in the horizontal plane within a circular control region using the loudspeakers modelled as 3D point sources. We propose weighting the Bessel-spherical harmonic modes for 2.5D reproduction and a matching between the desired and reproduced soundfields over the entire control region. Simulation results show that in comparison with the conventional 2.5D reproduction method a more accurate reproduction is achieved using the proposed weighting approach.Item Embargo 2.5D Multizone Reproduction with Active Control of Scattered Sound Fields(IEEE, 2019) Zhang, Junqing; Zhang, Wen; Abhayapala, Thushara; Xie, Jingli; Zhang, LijunMultizone reproduction has been focused on reproducing sounds in an empty listening space. However, there are always scatterers such as human heads in sound zones, generating scattered sound fields and causing degraded system performance. In this work, we develop a modal-domain method for 2.5D multizone reproduction with a solid object in the bright zone. Analytical expressions of the incident and scattered fields are developed. We then propose an active control strategy to correct the scattering effect. In the reproduction stage, we use the weighted mode matching approach to achieve the optimal control over the entire region. The redeveloped program incorporates key clinically relevant CPD elements such as peer review and reflection on practice, quality improvement, audit or outcomes measurement of practice and self-directed learning. The program strengthens essential elements identified in the Medical Board of Australia’s (MBA’s) plan for revalidation. Objectives: To update participants on the progress and implementation of the CPD program. This symposium will utilize a panel discussion approach to provide information and seek feedback. The presentation will provide participants with examples of how to meet the requirements of the program, the RANZCP online CPD system and its associated benefits. Methods: Literature review, benchmarking of other medical CPD programs, review of revalidation requirements and overview of the implementation of the 2017 CPD program. Findings: This symposium aims to inform fellows of the structure and benefits of the new program as well as discussing practical examples about how participants can meet their CPD program requirements. The discussion will be informed in part by the changes to the CPD program and any identified changes that have been reflected as part of the MBA’s plan for revalidation. The panel will discuss changes to the program and how the changes have been received following their implementation, particularly for those related to practice improvement and how the changes can be appropriately completed. Conclusions: An important role of the RANZCP is to ensure that a modern CPD program for participants is available, user friendly and professionally relevant with the appropriate systems to support it. The program aims to provide a framework for maintaining competence as well as improving the clinical skills and practice of psychiatrists.Item Open Access 208Po populated through EC/β decay(IOP Publishing, 2020) Brunet, M.; Berry, T. G.; Fraile, M.; Simpson, Ed; Warr, NigelThe structure of 208Po resulting from the EC/β+decay of 208At was studied at CERN’s ISOLDE Decay Station (IDS). The high statistics afforded by the high yield of 208At and the high efficiency HPGe clusters at the IDS allowed for greater insight into lower intensity transitions and thus significant expansion of the 208Po level scheme. Furthermore, investigation into the isomeric state yielded a new half life 377(9) ns in addition to uncovering new transitions populating the state.Item Embargo 23% efficient n-type crystalline silicon solar cells with passivated partial rear contacts(IEEE, 2018) Bullock, James; Wan, Yimao; Xu, Zhaoran; Yan, Di; Phang, Sieu Pheng; Hettick, Mark; Samundsett, Christian; Hameiri, Ziv; Cuevas, Andres; Javey, AliOver the past three years a new family of high efficiency n-type crystalline silicon cells featuring passivated partial rear contacts (PRC) has emerged. These cells take advantage of the unique contact properties obtained by introducing thin metal compound interlayers, such as TiOx and LiFx, between the metallic electrode and the silicon absorber. This paper explores the concept and potential advantages of the n-type passivated PRC cell. In particular, the recent fabrication of a cell at 23.1%, featuring a less-than 1% TiO x /LiF x /Al passivated PRC, demonstrates the compatibility of this concept with high efficiency designs.Item Open Access The 236U neutron capture cross-section measured at the n-TOF CERN facility(EDP Sciences - Web of Conferences, 2017-09-13) Mastromarco, M.; Barbagallo, M.; Vermeulen, M. The actual knowledge of the capture reaction of this isotope is satisfactory in the thermal region, but it is considered insufficient for Fast Reactor and ADS applications. For this reason the 236U(n, γ) reaction cross-section has been measured for the first time in the whole energy region from thermal energy up to 1 MeV at the n_TOF facility with two different detection systems: an array of C6D6 detectors, employing the total energy deposited method, and a FX1 total absorption calorimeter (TAC), made of 40 BaF2 crystals. The two n_TOF data sets agree with each other within the statistical uncertainty in the Resolved Resonance Region up to 800 eV, while sizable differences (up to ≃ 20%) are found relative to the current evaluated data libraries. Moreover two new resonances have been found in the n_TOF data.
